Halloween hats

October 30th, 2011

OK, so I’m not even really doing anything today and I know tomorrow is Halloween, not today buuuut, these hats would be kindof good for Halloween costumes, right? :)

We own the sky

Guess who I got to see today..?

She's a little clam...

Yumehamachan! Kuwana City’s lovely mascot! Seriously, this is one of the cutest mascots I have ever seen in Japan!!

Oh so sweet!

She’s a little clam. In a dress!

This is very exciting for me.

She’s so cute, I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing and freaking out!

Aaaaah kawaii!!

An exciting day for me!

Cute Art

October 12th, 2011

TGS also had an art wall! Here are some of the sweetest pictures (and mine too, even though it sucks!). Also, bear in mind I can’t understand all of the words so…if any of them say anything bad, my apologies! That would be impossible though, right?? I mean, they’re so cute!!

My Cute Tokyo Game Show

October 12th, 2011

Very overdue, I know!!
So anyway, yeah, I’m a fan of cute, so naturally I spent as much time as possible at TGS seeking out cute stuff. You know what’s cute? Little teeny versions of characters. Hello, Hatsune Miku in Sega’s Project Mirai and the teensy little versions of characters in Square Enix’s Theatrythm. Those were probably my favourite games of the whole show actually, partially because, you know, I quite like music games and also: I was able to play them. Guess what I CANNOT play? Monster Hunter! Biohazard! Rhythm R! Oh wait, I didn’t totally suck at Tekken X Street Fighter but I still lost because I picked nothing but the cutest characters and my opponent picked nothing but GIANT BEARS.
What else was cute? Well, characters walking around of course! I spotted and photographed Hatsune Miku herself, Sonic, One Up Games’ rabbit, a moustachioed cat (from what, I can’t recall), Sega Fish, Cooking Mama and a Tamagotchi. (No Mijumaru though. I mean, I know he wouldn’t be there but perhaps a tiny piece of my heart still hoped! When will I meet him? When??). Another cute game was Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest 3, which I sort of managed to play a teeny bit.

OK next, cute merchandise! By far the cutest items were the Love Plus pins. I know, Love Plus is a freaky game BUT they had pins of the characters dressed up to represent different prefectures! I bought like 12 pins, all of Rinko because she always has a sad expression. Sad expression plus silly costume: CUTE. No Mie pin! I got an Aichi one though. That’s all I bought! I was very tempted by the blue dinosaur from…an anime (?!) at the Cospa store (they even reduced the price!) but…I really need to at least pretend to curb my plush addiction so I left it.
Oh also: there was a cute food stand! I was initially wary beacuse the stall was festooned with swimming costumes and underwear with prices on them but it turned out these were just prices for the cutest cakes ever!! They had anpan, creampan and currypan all shaped like lovely cats!! So I bought two and they came in a lovely box, so sweet! Also there were two cosplayers dressed in super cute cat ears/paws posing for photos byt he booth. Nice antidote to the generally scuzzy atmosphere of the food hall…
Oh, I forgot! I also bought a Monster Hunter cat head hat. You know, for um, Halloween? This despite the fact that I already bought a Hello Kitty hat for Halloween. I need to get inviteed to lots of Halloween parties… Or cat themed parties, whichever is fine!
So, TGS 2011: Cute stuff everywhere! Yay!
Press events in bars with giant floor to ceiling red curtains: I like them. Press events with all this AND an open bar: I like them even more! Unfortunately when I hear the words ‘open bar’ my 18 year old self takes control and tries to drink as much as she can! Actually I was OK. I drank enough to a) speak to people a little more and b) play a game even though I knew I would suck at it. So I played Diabolical Pitch, Grasshopper’s new baseball zombie game directed by Hiroyuki Katano. It was fun!

I have a chainsaw!

I mean, I get properly scared of monsters coming towards me in games, even more so when they are on a big screen and I am actually using my body movements to get them to go away (Kinect) but being surrounded by people made it less scary. I rather liked how you could kick the monsters too! So I had a great time and several photos were taken of my rubbish throwing/kicking technique…

I can throw!!

It may look like I'm doing some crazy dance, I'm not, I'm killing monsters!!

Suda51 was looking very suave in all black and a Libertines T-shirt. (he had a Morrissey T-shirt at the TGS press event: much better!!) I took a picture with him and a foam chainsaw! Also he had gold shoes. GOLD SHOES!! Amazing.

Yay!

So the event was to showcase new games: Shadows of the Damned, Lollipop Chainsaw, Sine Mora, Black Knight Sword, Evangelion 3nd Impact ( Sound Impact) and Diabolical Pitch. Watched trailers for all the games then proceeded to drink a lot and um, talk to people!

Grasshopper chocolates! Awesome!

Stumbled home in the night, not minding too much about the probable hangover, it was a very cool evening.
